Project Retrospective

We started this project not only to bring our own ideas to life but because we have a passion for uplifting the creativity of our community. Harmonious is a student-led fully independent film featuring a plethora of our classmates, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and family members. In times of uncertainty and unease we have found that our hope and joy lies in the people nearest and dearest to us. We create under the group name of “WitchVine Productions”; the leads of which are Justine Ricca, Izzy Hope Evensdotter, and Sam Hall. The term “WitchVine” itself comes from an inside joke; something we felt held the feeling of community and whimsy we always strive to center in our work.

Harmonious was ideated by Justine and Izzy, and scripted primarily by Justine. It delves into a mix of personal struggles, real world observations, and a healthy dose of out-of-this-world absurdity. We used the resources that felt most authentic to us; local locations, second hand costumes from our closets and Olympia’s many thrift stores, along with an original soundtrack and many hodgepodge-hand-made set design elements. You’ll see and hear the work of artists we know personally everywhere in this film. While we had to work with roadblocks like finding a few of our locations, the less-than-impressive budget of a couple college students, and one director with the immune system of a sickly Victorian ghost; we managed to create something we could not be more proud of.

This is, at its core, a love letter to the things that make life worth living; community, creativity, and the catharsis of sharing what needs to be shared.
